The Institute has an ambitious research programme which has delivered a number of national firsts.

IT Sligo is a vibrant third level institution on the North West coast of Ireland for both Irish and international students, with over 5,641 fulltime students. International students make up 8% of the student population of 20 nationalities.

International Students

At IT Sligo we have a strong cosmopolitan, multicultural dimension with students and staff from diverse cultures,  which allows for learning about other educational systems and cultural backgrounds. This all adds to the rich tapestry that makes IT Sligo what it is.

We also provide opportunities for our students to go abroad and experience student or working life in another country.

If you want to experience living in another culture, travel, improve your language skills and want to add this experience to your curriculum vitae and get that valuable job, then why not consider a study period abroad or
a work placement as part of your degree?

International Students
International students from around the world find Sligo an attractive location to live and study.

International students are attracted by our programmes, by the beautiful scenery, the promise of the fresh sea air and the cool mountain breezes; the lure of living in Yeats County and fulfilling their heart’s desire. Maybe they hope to meet someone from Westlife on a night out! Whatever the reason, no matter what country you come from, we guarantee you a warm welcome and a great time!

Every year we welcome students from other countries. Some come via the Erasmus programme which is an exchange scheme with other institutions. A large number of students from within the EU and beyond come here.

During the first week in September, there are special information sessions and social activities for international students, which form part of IT Sligo’s induction programme organised by the International Officer:
