GPS Player to Represent US U17 MNT in France
Tommy Redding named in 18-man squad headed to 40th Mondial Minimes Tournament
Waltham MA, 4th April, 2012; The US U17 Men’s National Team headed to France to participate in an upcoming tournament includes a player from Global Premier Soccer. Tommy Redding from FC America (Florida Premier Soccer premier program), will travel as part of an 18 man squad competing in the 40th annual Mondial Minimes Tournament. The US will play in Group B and are scheduled to face United Arab Emirates and Portugal.
“It’s exciting to see Tommy compete on this stage against some of the top U17 players from across the world,” said FPS General Manager Alan Hough. “Tommy is undoubtedly a positive role model for all players from FC America and Global Premier Soccer and his endeavors should be an inspiration to all the young players within GPS.”
The U.S. U-17 Men will face UAE at 6:15 p.m. local time (12 p.m. ET) on Wednesday, April 3, followed by Portugal at 6:15 p.m. local time on Thursday, April 5. Should the U.S. advance, the team will also play April 7 and 9.
Redding joins a list of GPS products to represent the cub in a high profile tournament for youth national teams. In December 2011, GPS product Guy Kabala was selected as part of the squad to represent the US in tournament games, including a victory over Brazil, held at the Lakewood Ranch complex in Florida and screened live on Fox Soccer Channel. Kabala, a member of the US National Team Residency Program in Bradenton, FL is a product of the NHPSA Classics Premier Team program.
